NMPF’S
Role |
 |
 |
 |
 |
| |
As a statewide intermediary, the Nebraska
Microenterprise Partnership Fund (NMPF) was started in 1994 to mobilize,
allocate, leverage and link strategic local, state and national resources
with community-based development programs to finance and serve the
needs of Nebraska's small and micro businesses.
NMPF provides lending capital to programs
across the state working with small and micro businesses. These programs
have loaned out approximately $4 million, with an average loan size
of under $10,000.
NMPF also grants funds to programs for assisting
with operating costs and providing additional business services. In
2003, NMPF granted $225,000 to programs in partnership with the State
of Nebraska. As a result, through a matching strategy, more than $3.5
million was leveraged for small and micro business development.
Finally, NMPF assists programs in building capacity
to reach increasing numbers of businesses. For example, NMPF led the
effort to create a referral system whereby banks can direct people
to local lending programs for additional assistance. |
