Transformation Marketing – a Citi Microentrepreneurship Award Finalist
Transformation Marketing is one of 4 finalists for the national Momentum Business Citi Microentrepreneur Award via the Association for Enterprise Opportunity (AEO). They are the only Nebraska business in the running in 2013!
NEF worked with Transformation Marketing in filling a financing gap as they transformed an old fire barn in Panama, Nebraska into an efficient spacious office building. … Read more
CDFI Fund Provides Valuable Support for NEF Work
The Nebraska Enterprise Fund (NEF) has been awarded a Financial Assistance grant from the Certified Development Financial Institutions Fund of the U.S. Department of Treasury. Rose Jaspersen, NEF Executive Director, said, “ The CDFI funding is a valuable source of dollars for making loans to businesses/program partners and also provides dollars to help cover operational costs.”
In addition to making loans to program partners for relending to businesses, NEF will use the CDFI money to make loans to micro and small businesses in rural and urban. … Read more
NEF Hosts 2012 Program Training
On December 13, 2012, the Nebraska Enterprise Fund (NEF) hosted fifteen guests representing six program partner organizations and the Nebraska Business Development Center for a program training event at Mahoney State Park near Ashland. A variety of topics were presented with vibrant discussion and input sought. The purpose of the training event was to network with other micro / small business development organizations, learn from each other, increase knowledge about services and other topics that can help strengthen program capacity and the ability to better serve businesses across Nebraska.… Read more

Additional Money for Loans to Businesses
The Nebraska Enterprise Fund has been awarded $330,000 from the State of Nebraska, Department of Economic Development for use in making loans to micro businesses in distressed areas of Nebraska. These funds were appropriated in 2011 by the State Legislature under the Business Innovation Act. The Act requires that businesses receiving loans will have 10 or fewer employees with a maximum loan size per business of $50,000.… Read more

The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City recently hosted a “Grow Your Own” conference in Kearney, NE on the topic of focusing economic development resources on the growth of existing and small businesses. NEF staff, Rose Jaspersen and Glennis McClure, joined bankers, economic development staff, chamber of commerce directors, state agency and federal agency staff participated in discussions with regards to how Nebraska can put a greater focus on growing these businesses. … Read more

The Nebraska Enterprise Fund (NEF) is pleased to announce the addition of Terrence Coleman to the staff. Terrence is working as a Business Loan Officer, primarily in the Omaha area, but is available to assist with lending across the state. Since Nebraska Enterprise Fund (NEF) began offering direct loans to businesses and CD guarantees in June 2010 to help fill financing gaps for small and micro businesses, demand has been steady as relationships with banks have continued to develop. The Nebraska Enterprise Fund continues to seek loan capital for making loans to program partners and to businesses. In the last eight months NEF has developed investor relationships with two community banks located in rural Nebraska. Platte Valley State Bank and Trust of Kearney/Grand Island and First National Bank and Trust Company of Columbus have provided a total of $500,000 in Equity Equivalent Investments to NEF for use in making loans.… Read more

Nebraska Enterprise Fund (NEF) was selected to present at The Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank – Omaha Branch’s Investment Connection event on June 14, 2012. Investment Connection is a new program that brought together community and economic development organizations, funders and bankers to establish new relationships.
